Drive One 4 UR School- OBHS Sept 2010
Homer Skelton Ford has always been a great advocate and supporter of the local school systems. And we all know that school budgets are tight and schools are often under-funded in their efforts to support their sports teams and other extracurricular activities. Booster clubs (and the students themselves) are constantly looking for new ways to raise money to support their activities.
Ford Motor Company recognized this need as well, and has developed the Drive One 4 UR School program to connect dealers with local community efforts.
Homer Skelton Ford partnered with SBEC in April and in September with Olive Branch High School to execute this exciting opportunity where test-driving Ford, Lincoln or Mercury vehicles resulted in cash rewards for those schools - a $20 donation for each test-drive up to a maximum of $6,000!
We took a vehicle from each of Ford’s models to each school. Teachers, parents, relatives and some soon to be graduates lined up from the early morning hours and throughout the day to take a spin in a brand new Ford.
At the end of the events, SBEC had raised over $3,800 and Olive Branch High School raised $4320! In addition to the monies raised for the test drive, one of the participants from each event was also awarded a Gateway LT20 Netbook.
To sweeten the pot just a little more, Ford offered the schools an opportunity to win more money by creating a video about the event. If their video was chosen as one of the top videos from a Drive One 4 UR School event, they would get a double the test drive donation. SBEC was recently notified that their video was one of the top five in the nation and they received a total of $7200! It is a little to early to tell for OBHS, but we are certain that they will rank right up there as well! Take a look for yourself!
